Granting permission with Facebook C# SDK

I have an ASP.NET MVC Site in which I would like to allow my users to grant access for my app to post to their facebook account.

My site already has log-in and auth set up, so I do not currently wish to use FB for auth/account creation.

I suppose I would like something like twitter provides, to allow users to grant access to their fb account.

Are there any samples of how to accomplish this? I am not having much luck with the docs

Drew's New Year is going to be extra happy!

Drew Barrymore is engaged to beau Will Kopelman, a source tells Us Weekly exclusively.

Kopelman, 34, popped the question in Sun Valley, Idaho around the holidays, according to the insider.

It will be the third walk down the aisle for Barrymore, who wed Welsh bar owner Jeremy Thomas in March 1994 -- only to split just a month later. Her second marriage, to comic Tom Green, was similarly short lived: They wed in July 2001, and Green filed for divorce that December.

Sky light sky bright -- in the office

ScienceDaily (Jan. 3, 2012) ? Working under the open sky -- it sounds enticing, but it's seldom really a practical option. Now, a dynamic luminous ceiling brings the sky into office spaces by creating the effect of passing clouds. This kind of lighting generates a pleasant working environment.

As the wind swiftly blows clouds across the sky, the light is in a constant state of change. The feeling of spaciousness and freedom we experience outdoors is exactly what researchers from the Stuttgart-based Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO replicate indoors: a luminous ceiling that extends across the entire room simulates lighting conditions which resemble those produced by passing clouds -- conveying the impression that you are sitting outdoors.

The innovative luminous ceiling, which was developed by the Fraunhofer researchers in close collaboration with their partners at LEiDs GmbH, consists of 50cm by 50cm tiles. "Each tile comprises an LED board with 288 light emitting diodes (LEDs)," states Dr. Matthias Bues, head of department at the IAO. "The board is mounted on the ceiling. A diffuser film in matt white is attached approximately 30cm beneath the LEDs and ensures that the individual points of light are not perceived as such. This diffuser film creates homogenous lighting that illuminates the room throughout." The researchers use a combination of red, blue, green and white LEDs in order to produce the full light spectrum. This combination makes it possible to generate more than 16 million hues. What's more, the white LEDs are more energy efficient than the colored lights, which keeps the energy costs to a minimum.

The main focus in developing the virtual sky was to simulate natural lighting conditions on a cloudy day. To achieve this goal, the researchers carefully examined natural light to find out how -- and how quickly -- the light spectrum changes when clouds move across the sky. "The LEDs allow us to simulate these dynamic changes in lighting in a way that is not directly obvious to the naked eye. Otherwise the lighting might distract people from their work. But it does need to fluctuate enough to promote concentration and heighten alertness," says Bues. The results of a preliminary study indicate that users find this dynamic lighting to be extremely pleasant. The study involved ten volunteers who carried out their daily work over the course of four days under these lighting conditions with a lighting surface of 30cm by 60cm. Throughout the first day, the lighting remained static. On the second day, it fluctuated gently, and on the third day the fluctuations were rapid. On the fourth day, the participants could choose which type of lighting they wanted, and 80 percent opted for the fast, dynamic lighting.

A prototype of this virtual sky has now been developed that contains a total of 34,560 LEDs spanning an area of 34 square meters. At full power, the "sky" lights up with an intensity of more than 3,000 lux, but 500 to 1,000 lux is sufficient to create a comfortable level of lighting.

The virtual sky currently costs approximately 1,000 euros per square meter, but this price will come down, since the more units are produced, the more cost-effective each luminous ceiling will be.

Argentine President Cristina Kirchner's cancer operation 'successful'

Tests suggested it had not spread beyond her thyroid, so the condition should be curable without chemotherapy, doctors said. They added that the 58-year-old president has a better than 90 per cent chance of recovery.

Experts say thyroid removals are about as routine as cancer surgeries can be, although the process is not without risk: surgeons must take care not to damage a nearby nerve that guides the vocal cords, or to remove the adjacent parathyroids, which regulate the body?s calcium supply.

The president, who was easily re-elected in October and started her second four-year term in December, is often referred to in Argentina by her first name. Supporters lined the streets near the hospital, holding signs that said ?Strength Cristina.?

Mrs Kirchner is only the latest sitting South American leader to be diagnosed with cancer. Presidents Fernando Lugo of Paraguay, Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and Dilma Rousseff of Brazil all have undergone treatments recently.

Mr Boudou, her former economy minister, is expected to work closely with other Cabinet members while she recuperates at her home in Calafate, in far-southern Argentina, and make no major policy changes.

Argentina all but shuts down for the summer holidays in January and February, so her diagnosis and surgery came at a relatively calm time.

Chile navy locates solo US sailor in South Pacific

An 84-year American making his seventh attempt to sail alone around the tip of South America was found tired but alive by the Chilean Navy on Wednesday after his mast broke far from land in the South Pacific.

The Chilean Navy located Thomas Louis Corogin on his 32-foot sailboat more than 520 miles (850 kilometers) south of Easter Island, stranded but in relatively stable weather, with ocean swells of about 15 feet (5 meters).

Corogin activated his emergency beacon on Tuesday morning, prompting the Navy to send out an Orion search and rescue plane, which searched a vast expanse of ocean. The plane had to return to Easter Island and refuel before going out again and spotting the tiny boat, Captain Jorge Bastias, the Navy's top spokesman, told The Associated Press.

The Navy then arranged for a Japanese merchant ship, the "White Kingdom," to rescue the sailor. The ship was about 250 nautical miles away when it joined the search and was expected to reach him Wednesday night, local time, Bastias said.

Corogin, a lawyer who runs a small marina in Port Clinton, Ohio, set sail from Easter Island on Dec. 27. The broken mast wasn't his only mishap during this adventure ? he had sent an email saying he was briefly hospitalized in Ecuador with a cut to his leg, said a friend and fellow sailor, Jack Majszak.

"Tom is the most unique person I've ever met," said Majszak, who invited Corogin to lecture to his Modern Sailing School and Club in Sausalito, California, last year after meeting with him in the Panama Canal.

Majszak described Corogin as an experienced sailor and storyteller ? he even wrote a spy novel, "Agape" ? who felt comfortable on his Westsail32, a boat known for its stability more than its speed.

"He should be fine, it's a very stable boat," Majsak said. "The 15-foot swells shouldn't be too bad as long as they don't come too quickly. If he battens up the hatches and goes down below the boat will bob like a cork and he should be fine. As long as he's not seriously hurt, that's the key."

Arnold Schwarzenegger & Maria Shriver Are Both Wearing Their Wedding Rings Again

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver's split was one of the biggest breakups of 2011, and they're already poised to be 2012's most shocking reunion. Recently Arnold has been spotted about town wearing his wedding ring, and if you trust extremely blurry paparazzi pics, Maria has also taken to wearing the symbol of her devotion to to the prolific actor/sleezeball. TMZ claims Arnold has been wooing Maria and she's considering a reconciliation because she's against divorce for religious reasons. It's also possible that Maria isn't actually wearing her wedding ring, because whatever's on her finger looks more like a shiny Ring Pop. [Radar, TMZ, TMZ]
