Carnival Cruise Lines has been a big name in the cruise industry for decades. Carnival started back in 1972. It is operated out of Florida. Many people are familiar with the Carnival Destiny. This was the first of it kind: a passenger cruise ship larger than 10,000 tons. Innovations like this have helped Carnival maintain the edge on competition. Carnival?s huge cruise ships offer a diverse array of activities onboard. They have pools, spas, and exercise facilities, just to name a few.

Costa Cruise Lines is one of the older cruise lines. Established in the eighteen hundreds, it is no wonder that Costa manages the largest fleet of cruise ships in all of Europe. Costa is known for keeping to a fast paced ship building timeline. It launches new ships every few years to keep its fleet expanding, even when retiring old ships. Although Costa has had a long history of independence, it was purchased by Carnival Cruise Lines in the year 2000.

MSC is a cruise line operating out of Italy. Founded in 1990, MSC is only just becoming known in North America. MSC stands apart from the competition because its ships have a more classic feel. These ships generally have beautiful antique interiors featuring lots of marble, brass, and wood. MSC is expanding too. With the addition of the MSC Armonia and MSC Opera in the year 2004, MSC offers a great alternative to competing cruise lines.

Just five years after it was founded, NCL had added an impressive four more ships to its fleet. Finally in early 2000, Star Cruises purchased NCL.

Princess Cruise Lines is another great choice for any cruise. You might be familiar with Princess. This company was made famous when two of its ships were featured regularly on the television show ?The Love Boat.? Although the cruise ships featured on this show are now retired, Princess runs many other beautiful ships. All of the this cruise lines ships are clever named with the word princess. For instance: Star Princess, Sun Princess, Pacific Princess, Royal Princess, just to name a few.
