Oregon Dressage Society News and Announcements ? 2012 Youth ...

Greetings ODS Members!

We are gearing up for this year?s summer camp!

?

In its third year, the 2012 Oregon Dressage Society / Region 6 Youth Overnight Summer Camp has added one day and moved dates to accommodate requests of trainers and parents to have one week dedicated to youth at the DevonWood Equestrian Centre.

The week begins with move-in on Monday August 6th and transitions from camp to the 2012 ODS / Region 6 Junior/Young Rider Team Dressage Competition on Thursday August 9th.

The camp is open to the first 60 registered youth ages 8 ? 21; after the first 60, we will create a wait-list. If more instructors are confirmed, we will call each person the wait-list until the camp is full. ODS membership is encouraged, however it is not required.? The camp?s webpage lists the approximate schedule of activities and other details.

Our instructors this year include Sarah Filiger, Meredith Crawford, Sadie Lahey, Molly Eastridge, and Natalie Perry.? In an effort to minimize the costs of attending this camp, all of the instructors and lecturers have generously donated their time for the weekend and are being housed by friends of the camp.

COST:

The price of the camp will be $300; this price includes food, stabling, covers the costs of other necessary expenditures to ensure that the camp is a safe and comfortable environment for all those in attendance!? Campers without horses may also attend; the cost to attend without a horse is $75.

REGISTRATION:

In an effort to simplify registration and conserve paper, the registration process will be done mostly via the web, email and fax.?? Registration for this camp will be first come first serve.

The camp will open for registration on Friday the 20th of July and the closing date will be June 15th.

The registration form will be available through a link from www.dressagecamp.com .

Within 48 hours of submission of the registration form, the ODS Office will send you a confirmation email letting you know whether you get in to the camp or are wait listed.? The confirmation letter will contain further instructions regarding payment, liability waivers, and the proof of vaccination which need to be taken care of within 24 hours. We will also be emailing a suggested packing list, directions, contact information for the on-call vet and farrier.

DONATIONS / SCHOLARSHIPS:

The camp is also accepting donations towards youth scholarships and stipends to help cover expenses ? if you want to contribute, please visit the webpage to make a donation online, or contact the ODS Office to make a donation over the phone or through the mail.

If you have any questions about camp, please contact me directly at (503) 830-9994 or jessica.rattner@gmail.com (note: Jessica is involved with Dressage at DevonWood and she may not be able to return e-mails or voicemail until after Monday, July 23).? You may also contact the ODS Office at office@oregondressage.com for a quicker response to questions about registration, payment, liability waivers, etc.

Thank you,
